PFB Eco Marine Coating is a waterborne low-VOC marine paint designed for environmentally sensitive applications and areas with strict air quality regulations. It delivers a professional satin finish while meeting the toughest coastal VOC compliance requirements. This is not a compromise product — it uses advanced waterborne resin technology that provides genuine durability, UV resistance, and saltwater protection. Ideal for marinas near residential areas, work inside enclosed boat sheds, and any project where low-odor and low-emissions are a priority. Cleans up with soap and water.

Surface Preparation

  • Sand existing coatings with 180-220 grit sandpaper
  • Clean with fresh water and a non-solvent degreaser — do not use solvent-based cleaners
  • Prime bare surfaces with PFB Surface Primer Multi-Surface
  • Ensure the surface is completely dry — waterborne coatings are sensitive to moisture during application
  • Do not apply over uncured solvent-based paints

How to Apply

Application method
Brush, roller, or airless spray. Do not thin with solvent — use water if thinning is needed (up to 5%).

2-4 hours between coats. Full cure in 7-10 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Eco Marine Coating as durable as solvent-based marine paint?
Modern waterborne marine coatings have closed the gap significantly. PFB Eco Marine Coating provides 2-3 seasons of solid protection. For maximum durability in extreme conditions, a solvent-based polyurethane like Pro Marine Enamel still has an edge.
Can I use PFB Professional Reducer with Eco Marine Coating?
No. PFB Professional Reducer is a solvent-based product and is not compatible with waterborne coatings. If you need to thin Eco Marine Coating, add up to 5% clean water.
Does it meet California VOC requirements?
Yes. PFB Eco Marine Coating is formulated to comply with the strictest coastal air quality district regulations, including SCAQMD limits.
Can I apply Eco Marine Coating over existing solvent-based paint?
Yes, as long as the existing paint is fully cured (30+ days old) and properly sanded. The key is mechanical adhesion through sanding — the waterborne topcoat bonds to the sanded profile, not chemically to the old paint.
